Julia Winder

ASSOCIATE ADMINISTRATOR AND FACTOTUM
Julia moved to Manitoulin Island with her husband John Turner in 2002 and is still surprised to be involved with running a clown farm. Julia taught yoga classes in numerous communities across Manitoulin for twelve years and worked at the local newspaper The Manitoulin Expositor for five years. Previously, Julia trained as an actor at Ryerson Theatre School (class of 89) and was a company member at the Stratford Festival for three seasons. She also studied Kathak Dance for seven years with the Joanna Das (now de Souza), eventually assisting Joanna at the M-DO studio, teaching beginner level workshops and performing at a variety of venues. Julia’s continued love of dance, movement and theatre was inspired at a young age by ballet classes at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and with Elizabeth Paterson at the Oakville School of Dance, where she earned her RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Advanced Certificate with Honours.  In 2004 and 2005, Julia took the Mask and Clown Intensive and Boot Camp with her husband as teacher and is still married.
